Our precious mom, Dorothy L. Wood, was called to her eternal home Sunday, June 24, 2018 after attending Sunday morning church service. Mom resided in Bloomfield, NM still living in her own home at the age of 91 years young. She was known by many loving names including Mopsy, Grams, Grandma, GG and Dot (teasingly called by her brothers!).
Mom was born on April 6, 1927 in Aztec, NM to William & Ona Magee. She had five siblings: Tom, Kathryn, Jim, Gerald and Carolyn. She graduated from Aztec High School as salutatorian of her class. She married our dad, CJ Wood on November 20,1947 in Aztec, NM. They were married for 58 years and lived in many different places including Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado, but the majority of her life was spent here in San Juan county.
Mom also taught second grade Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield for 22 years. Some of her hobbies were sewing, reading and quilting, but her most favorite thing of all was spending time with her family. One of our favorite memories when we were with mom was when anybody said “lets go” she was the first in the van waiting for us!
Mom was survived by her five children: Carol (Bob) O’Bryan, Deb (Greg) Petersen, Calvin (JoAnne) Wood, Becky (Chuck) McAulay, Nan (Clyde) Lasster; 16 grandchildren: Michelle Eskew, Cody O’Bryan, David O’Bryan, Shawn Petersen, Larry Mike Petersen, Bridget Kelly, Matthew Wood, Shiloh McAulay, Carmen Wisser, Brittany McAulay, Courtney Chavez, Adrienne Joiner, Lesa Brewer, Celeste Santiago, Josh Lasster, Alexyss Coleman; 33 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends … and last but not least her beloved dog Princess.
Our mom was preceded in death by our dad, CJ Wood on August 12, 2005, her grandson Jeremy Wood on March 16, 2015 and all four of her siblings.
You will “all” be greatly missed Mom, Grams, Grandma & GG … until we meet again.
