Kellie Waldschmidt

Kellie Lee Waldschmidt passed away peacefully in her favorite spot, her bed, on Sunday
evening, August 30. She was 35 years old. She was born February 5, 1985 in Los Alamos,
New Mexico to Pamela Willden Gathings and Mike Gagnebin.

Kellie got her GED and then graduated from massage therapy school. Soon after, she became a mom to Kyra, then Kindra, and finally completed the family with Kosiah. In 2013, Kellie spent eighteen days in a coma due to complications from pneumonia. That incident was the beginning of her battle with congestive
heart failure.

She enjoyed driving in the hills and “pioneering” for rocks and gold. She always
believed that she would find the hidden treasures of the Spaniards. Another hobby of hers was
painting. Humor was Kellie’s strongest characteristic. She loved to make people laugh and
although she wasn’t always very appropriate, she was funny as hell. People loved to be around
her because she kept it real. Even though she was wild, she had a big heart and was always up
for an adventure. She had so many true friends in her lifetime, it was hard to keep up with who
was family and who was friends.

Kellie was preceded in death by her father Mike Gagnebin,
her maternal grandmother Grace Willden, and one of her best friends and cousin Scott
Gagnebin.

She is survived by her greatest accomplishment, her three children, Kyra Lee
Gruette, Kindra Jade Candelaria, and Kosiah Ray Gonzales. She also is survived by her
favorite speeddial her “Ma’s,” Pam Gathings who was always there for her and took very good
care of her to the end. Her paternal grandmother Grandy Neva Gagnebin was her anchor and
did her best to help Kellie succeed in life. She left behind two grandfathers, BePa Jim Gagnebin
and Papa Kenny Willden. Her siblings include Jennifer (Tina) Waldschmidt, Robbie Gagnebin,
Derek Gagnebin, Sarah Gathings, and Nick Gathings. She also adopted her own siblings, Misty
Starky, Sherry Dorsett, Albert Willie, and Josh Alcon.

She had a huge family on both sides and no matter how complicated she was, she was loved dearly by her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She left her children to John and Linda Gutierrez, knowing they would be loved and taken care of. Finally, Kellie’s list of close, dear friends makes us realize the impact of her life in this world.

Her services will be at 4 pm, Sunday September 6, at Farmington Funeral Home. A private
viewing for immediate family and close friends will be held at 2 pm.

Guestbook

Oh dear! I'm soooooo sorry to hear this. Kellie Waldschmidt was one of my students at Rocinante High School many, many years ago. She was always over-eager in the classroom. She had lots to chat about and contribute even when her comments had nothing to do with whatever we were working on. Her energy could not be contained. She left Rocinante and I'd run into Kellie every once in a while. It was always a joy to see her. I knew there were struggles and I knew she danced with some demons, but Kellie always had something "filled with energy" to say. Sometimes humorous, sometimes intense. Learning of her passing away just hurts my soul. I hope her family is able to find comfort in memories and recollections.
