Mary Gallegos

Mary Nieves Gallegos passed from this temporary life into eternal life with her Savior April 5, 2019, she was 90 years old. Mary wasborn August 5, 1928, toFelix and Emma Ortiz in Swastika, NM. She was the oldest of thirteen children, nine girls and four boys. In March 1946, she married Lawrence Gallegos and together they raised thirteen children of their own. They were happily married for forty years until Lawrence’s death in December 1986, she never left his side. Even after her husband’s death she continued to live life enjoying dancing and listening to music, especially music made by her children and grandchildren playing in their own bands. In her later years, as it got harder to get around, she loved to watch the old westerns on TV.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lawrence, sisters Lizzy, Louise, Josie, and Kathy, brothers David and Tony, children Harold and Dennis. She is survived by sisters: Eleanor, Stella, Terri and Helen and brothers: Johnny and Felix. She is also survived by her children and living spouses: Joanne Gallegos, Larry Gallegos (Christina), Thomas Gallegos (Roxanne), Shirley Armijo (Richard), Sherrie Gallegos, Greg Gallegos (Jessie), Gary Gallegos, Debra Caywood (Tim), Dianne Custer, Mary Gilbreath (Mike), Geraldine Godwin (Leslie), Roy Gallegos (Kathy), and Dale Gallegos, twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A family viewing will be held on Monday, April 8 at 7:00 PM at the Farmington Funeral Home.
