Allecia Barela

Allecia Barela of Farmington, NM gained her angel wings on Thursday February 24, 2022. Allecia is preceded in death by her mother Rosie Martinez and grandmother Erminia Jaquez.  Allecia was born to Ray and Rosie(Velarde) Martinez on May 28, 1963 in Farmington, NM.

Allecia married the love of her life Charlie Barela in 1981. They lived in Aztec, NM then  later moved to Espanola, NM. Allecia was very passionate about helping people. She worked at a treatment facility where she engaged with troubled youth. After moving back to Farmington she provided care for the elderly. She positively touched so many lives, young and old. Allecia always worked hard to provide for her family.  Allecia was very proud of her heritage and culture. She loved family get togethers and cooking for her family. Her door was alway open for all.

Allecia is survived by her husband Charlie Barela, their three children: Valerie Barela Atencio, Levi Barela, Luke Barela(Trista). She is also survived by three grandchildren Jose and Robert Atencio, Ariza Barela. Father Ray Martinez, brothers: Marty Martinez, Thomas Martinez, Dominick Martinez (Mariam), sisters: Mary Campbell (Gary), Julie Jaramillo (Wilfred), Susie De Leon(Tommy) and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Allecia was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, starting with a rosary at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic parish in Bloomfield, NM. Burial will follow at Los Martinez Cemetery in Navajo Dam, NM.
