Andrea Krauss

April 8, 1965 — July 8, 2025

Angie Krauss was a brilliant and stubborn redheaded German who died peacefully at home surrounded by love from her animals, little sister, and close friends in the wee morning hours of July 8th, 2025. Not even stage IV esophageal cancer impeded her ability to live an extraordinary and full life.

Angie was born and spent her childhood in Germany. In her late teens, she moved to Bloomington, Indiana with her mother, brother, and dog Tinka. On Angie's 17th birthday, she received the most peculiar and undesirable birthday gift she would ever receive - a baby sister. She spent many years in Indiana as an accomplished professional weaver before finding her true home in New Mexico in 2005.

Angie was extremely active and enjoyed all things outdoors from camping, going to the hot springs, kayaking, and hiking. As a child, she found her greatest lifelong passion - horses. Angie's love of horses was more than just a hobby, it was embedded in her soul and DNA. Her entire life, she was never more than a stone's throw away from a stable, barn, or ranch. Most of her adult life has revolved around horsemanship. Angie taught equestrian skills to kids and young adults before working on a ranch in Colorado with her life long best friend Rony Kraft. She used her horseback skills as a search and rescue volunteer in the backcountry. When it came to horses and riding, she was profoundly dedicated to lifelong learning. Angie spent decades refining her skills on trails and with formal training. Through the Californio Bridlehorse Association, she finally found not only herself, her peace, and an incredible community of friends but continued to refine her horsemanship skills with roping.

Being a voracious lifelong learner, Angie went to nursing school and became a registered nurse in 2020 and became a US Citizen in 2022. Her compassion, skill, and advocacy for patients made it incredibly easy for her colleagues and patients to instantly adore her. Her dedication for her patients had no limits. Angie worked until July 3rd, 2025 because she insisted on personally breaking the news to her longtime patients.

Angie is survived by her mother (Inge Combs), brother (Jurgen Krauss), little sister (Nicole Odya), beloved horses Meko and Peppy, best doggies Bella and Maggie Mae, pussycat JD, and countless friends who showed up through thick and thin.

Don't be too sad, Angie lived her life on her own terms and full of adventure. To the well organized mind, death is just the next great adventure. But if you're expecting a ghostly haunting or visit from Angie, please be patient as it won't be any time soon. She has a super busy schedule to reunite and tend to her beloved animals that preceded her in death: her horses Muñeca and Thug and doggies Tinka, Mojo, Jester, and Lily.

Per Angie's wishes, her remains will be cremated and there will be no services. It is truly impossible to honor such a spectacular and free spirited woman in a single pretentious, oppressively boring, and trite service. Those who know and love Angie deeply, know how to properly celebrate her.
