Anna Tonita “Annie” Widdowes February 12, 1943 – September 6, 2026

Anna Tonita “Annie” Widdowes, born Anna Tonita Medina, was born on February 12, 1943, in Piñones, Mancos, Colorado, to Antonio Pedro Medina and Mary Hilda Medina.

On August 25, 1962, Annie married the love of her life, Jesse Widdowes. Together, they built a life and raised their family. Annie and Jesse resided in Albuquerque until 2003, when they returned home to Bloomfield, New Mexico. Annie spent the remainder of her life in Bloomfield, where she remained surrounded by family, friends, and the love she so freely gave to others until the Lord called her home on September 6, 2026.

Annie will be remembered most for the tremendous love she poured into raising and caring for other people's children, whom she loved and treated as her own. She always had room in her heart for one more, and her home was a place where people knew they were welcomed, cared for, and loved.

Annie loved to cook, and her door was always open to family and friends. She took great joy in preparing her favorite dishes for those she loved, including her sweet rice, potato salad, chicken dip, and pistachio pudding. Her kitchen was a place filled with food, conversation, laughter, and memories that her family will carry with them forever.

After retirement, Annie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She spent her days waiting for family and friends to stop by for a visit, where she could enjoy her coffee and graham crackers while listening to the stories and conversations of those who came through her door.

In her free time, Annie enjoyed coloring, seek-and-find books, and watching some of her favorite television shows, including Little House on the Prairie, Touched by an Angel, and Highway to Heaven. She loved New Mexican music, and 89.1 KANW could often be heard playing in the background of her home.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the true joy of her life. Whenever they walked through her doors, Annie's attention immediately turned to making sure they were fed, happy, comfortable, and, most importantly, knew just how deeply they were loved. She had a way of making each person feel special and cared for.

Annie was a truly selfless woman. She will always be remembered for her vibrant colors, beautiful flowers, camisones, and chopos—little pieces of her that reflected the unique and beautiful woman she was.

Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse Widdowes; her parents, Antonio Pedro and Mary Hilda Medina; her sister, Cecelia Gonzalez; her nephews, Harry Gonzalez, Audie Medina, and Manuel Sanchez; her niece, Hilda Barella; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and her adopted grandson, Patrick Jr. Garcia, also known as “Tinkers.”

She leaves behind her loving children and their families: her son, Jesse Widdowes (Juanita Mora), and his children, Agnes and Dominic Garcia, Macho and Tasha Mora, and Jessica; Also, her daughter, Jennifer Martinez (Mark Martinez), and their children, Sara and Brandon.

Annie is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and happiness to her life.

She is survived by her siblings: Loyd D. Medina, Lydia Sanchez, Helen Hall, Robert Medina, and Linda Medina.

Annie was also a loving godmother to her five godchildren: Loyd Jr. Medina, Aviance Medina, William Rivera, Latisha Crane, and Sara Martinez.

Annie leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. She opened her home and her heart to so many, leaving an imprint that will continue through the generations.

Her absence will be felt in every family gathering, every favorite recipe, every song playing in the background, and every open door where someone is welcomed with love.

Annie will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love, family, kindness, and selflessness will live on in all those whose lives she touched.
