Armando "Amigo" Garcia

Aztec

Amigo went to be with our Heavenly Father on April 9, 2023, Resurrection Sunday, peacefully in his home. Amigo was born in Tapacitas, New Mexico on September 29, 1933, to Bonifacio Garcia and Abedulia Valdez Garcia.  Throughout his life he was best known by Amigo, Armando, Mando, Hernando, Herman and Garcia. Amigo served in the military as an Army Specialist 3rd Class. He left Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1961 from the US Army.  After his time in the military, he moved back to Tierra Amarilla, NM and married Alejandrina (Rena) Flores. After their marriage they established residence and raised their family in Aztec, New Mexico, where Amigo passed away. Amigo had three sons, Stevan, Ed, and Bobby Garcia. He was an avid vaquero cowboy in his early life and loved the western lifestyle. He ran the Aztec Texaco for over thirty-six years. While running the Texaco he established many friendships and created many job opportunities for Aztec youth which progressed into permanent positions for some. After retiring from Texaco, he became a co-owner of Aztec Lube & Tube with his son Ed for twenty-four years. He was a highly respected businessman and staple of the community for over sixty-years. He was a padrino to all and had nicknames for everyone.
