Augustine Sena, age 96 of Farmington, NM, passed away Monday November 10, 2025, Augie was born on June 27, 1929 in Mount Harris, Colorado to Cipriano and Dolores Villalovos Sena.

Today we celebrate the life of a 96-year-old Korean War Army veteran - a man who started with an 8th-grade education, went back and earned his GED, and proved that hard work and determination could take you just about anywhere.

After serving his country, Augie went to work for the Routt County Road Department, where he got very good at moving dirt - and maybe a little bit of snow and attitude, too. Eventually, he took those skills to Peabody Coal, where he ran heavy equipment and, for many years, served as union president. He was never afraid to speak his mind - and if you knew him, you know that's putting it mildly.

Augie and his wife spent many happy years bowling together in leagues - weeknights at the lanes filled with friendly competition and plenty of laughter. It was their way of spending time together, surrounded by friends and a little healthy rivalry.

Augie was a devoted member of Calvary Chapel in Farmington, where he and his wife put their faith into action and served their community in countless ways. He loved working with his hands, fixing things around the house (usually before anyone could stop him), and watching NASCAR - because, let's be honest, the man loved anything with an engine.

Grandpa adored visits from his granddaughter and her kids, and once he got going with his stories, they were all ears - he had a way of making even the smallest memories sound like grand adventures.

Dad drove until age 92 and even climbed up on the shed roof at 91 - just to prove he still could. We told him to stay off ladders, but he said, "If I can still climb it, it's fair game." That was him - independent to the core.

He finally slowed down this past July, when he fell and broke his hip while taking his dog out. Even then, he was mostly just mad at himself for not landing better.

Dad was tough, funny, faithful, and endlessly resourceful - the kind of man who could fix a broken engine, a squeaky door, or a bad day with equal skill. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and a spirit that refused to quit. And if we can carry just a little bit of that stubborn, joyful spark with us, we'll be doing him proud.
