Barney "Butch" Jones

Barney 'Butch' Lee Jones, 66 of La Plata, NM passed away Tuesday July 31st, 2018 in Farmington NM.

He leaves his brother, Jeffrey Jones, his son Matthew and wife Deborah, his son Joshua and wife Angie, as well as 3 grandchildren, Erik, Leah and Madeline.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Sue Jones.

Butch was born 3/17/1952 in Belen, NM. He graduated from Taos High School where he was an athlete, including captain of the football team. He then attended the University of New Mexico where he was on the ski team. After a detour to San Diego, Butch earned his bachelor's degree in biology. After a move to Bosque Farms in the 70's, his first son, Matt was born. Then on to Farmington where his second son Josh was born, completing the family.

Butch was a jack of many trades including a drilling engineer, salesman, pawn shop owner...truly an entrepreneur. He loved boating, hunting and fishing. He will be missed by family and friends.
