Bobby John Huffmyer, age 91, left this earth on November 11, 2024. Born on January 28, 1933, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, John was one of five children of Sarah Tom and Robert Huffmyer.

John graduated from Carrizozo High School, where his exceptional basketball talent earned him opportunities to play at Cisco Junior College and later at New Mexico State University. He was born to be an Aggie. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, John returned to the University of New Mexico, where he earned his degree as a Registered Pharmacist.

A dedicated pharmacist for more than 60 years, John owned and operated pharmacies in New Mexico and Texas before continuing his career in southwest Colorado and northern New Mexico. During this time, he also pursued his love of cattle ranching, earning the affectionate title of "Drug Store Cowboy!"

John was a man of God and lived a life devoted to service. He found joy in being surrounded by people and had a special passion for mentoring and supporting young people. He umpired little league games, supported youth sports, and announced high school and junior college football and basketball games. His dedication to youth extended to his 14 years of service on the Lake Cisco Christian Youth Camp board, where he served as Camp Director for several years.

Above all, John loved his family. His heart was fullest when spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty Bradford Huffmyer, the mother of his surviving son, Mark Huffmyer, and daughter, Tammi Huffmyer Dorsey.

He is also survived by his current wife of 23 years, Joyce Bodewig Huffmyer, and stepdaughter, Dixie Rivera.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, faith, and commitment to serving others leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life for John will be scheduled at a later date.
