Candace Ali Augustine, of Bloomfield, NM, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Farmington, NM. Candace was born on August 24, 1989, in Shiprock, NM, to her parents Esther A. Ahasteen and Steve Ahasteen.
As a young mother, Candace managed to graduate from Rocinate High School with her high school diploma.Candace held various job titles, from being a waitress, customer service rep, receptionist, hospitality and a peer mentor. Although she did not pursue higher education, her passions led her to interests in learning cosmetology and creative arts. Candace had a flair for beautifying everything around her and often expressed her thoughts and emotions through journaling—a practice that was part of her self-care routine. Camping, fishing, playing guitar, being adventurous, and road trips were some of the many hobbies she enjoyed. Candace had a kind and loving nature and was deeply family-oriented. She prioritized time with her loved ones and had a great sense of humor that brought joy to all the people around her.
Candace is preceded in death by her brothers Walter J. Begaye “Sonny” and Jeffrey Begaye, her sister Stephanie Ahasteen, and her grandparents Kee Augustine and Mary C. Augustine.
Candace is survived by her fiancée Nadeysha Toledo; her sons Joshua M. Augustine, Jacob R. Augustine, Christopher J. Augustine-Johnson, and Maison J. Augustine-Johnson; her daughter Trinity J. Smart; her parents Esther A. Ahasteen and Steve Ahasteen; her brothers Aaron J. Ahasteen and Christian Ahasteen; and her sister Jacqueline K. Largo.
