Che Prespentt-Montoya

June 1, 1986 — January 28, 2023

Che' Prespentt-Montoya, 36 of Angustura, NM., passed away January 28, 2023. He was born June 1, 1986 in Farmington, NM. to Sharlene Prespennt and Valdamar Montoya.

Che' graduated from Bloomfield High School in 2004. After his graduation he held a variety of jobs and business ventures, including working out in the oil field, John Deere, managing a granite shop. Che's most recent business venture was getting a wood cutting operation up and running.

Family and friends were the most important things in his Che's life. Che' helped his mom almost daily with small projects around the property to keep it in good order, and checked in on his dad regularly to make sure he was getting along okay. Che' was a devoted husband to his wife, Erica, for 15 years and they just had their first child about 6 months ago. The bond he had with his newborn daughter was a joy to see. He loved her so much and you could see it from their morning routine, to bragging about her to everyone that he came across. Che's sister, Skyeler, also meant the world to him. Even when he was mad at her, He still cared for her well-being and taught her how to shoot a bow and gun. Che' also had a passion for cooking for those he loved. Whether it was a holiday or friends coming into town, Che' would have a new recipe to try, and almost every time it was delicious.

When Che' was not working, he loved being outdoors. In the summer you could catch him camping all over Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado, fishing for trout, scouting for various wildlife for upcoming hunts, spending time at the family ranch outside of Dulce, NM, working on new inventions so everyone could work smarter, not harder, and tending to his garden. You would often see him walking around the property with all his pets. It included ducks, chickens, and dogs. Every single one had a nickname and a personality.

This brief description of Che's life does not even begin to describe the type of person he was and how much he was loved by all that met him. Che' will be missed by all.

Che' was preceded in death by his Aunt Bonnie Prespentt-Smith; grandparents Esquiel & Shirley Prespentt and Santos & Zalda Montoya.

He is survived by his wife Erica Martinez; daughter Camilla Montoya; parents Sharlene Prespentt and Valdamar Montoya; brother David Clark; sister Skyeler Prespentt-Montoya; Uncle Kelly and Aunt Ann Prespentt, Uncle Chris and Aunt Debbie Prespentt; and numerous cousins.
