Consuelo S. Puentes, 100 of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Farmington, NM. Born December 10, 1925, in San Jose de Morillitos, Durango, Mexico to parents Francisco Puentes & Librada Sanchez Puentes.
Consuelo was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In her early years she was a mother and homemaker in Durango, Mexico. Bringing her family to America and settling in Flagstaff, AZ where she worked as a cook and homemaker.
Later in life, she relocated to Farmington, New Mexico, where she worked as a babysitter and continued to care for her family. She was an avid sports fan; her favorite football team was the Las Vegas Raiders, and she supported the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns in basketball.
Consuelo frequently enjoyed cooking with her daughter and grandchildren. Sundays were dedicated to catching up with family through phone calls and hosting family dinners.
Every Christmas was marked by the labor and laughter involved in making tamales, followed by the anticipation of presents and Santa.
Gardening and nurturing plants were among her favorite pastimes. She could often be found tending to her yard and watering her plants during the mid-afternoon in the summer months. Consuelo possessed a love for sewing, creating blankets for her family and loved ones, making potholders, or mending torn garments. Her gentle and caring hands were always available to her family.
Her weekends included enjoyable trips to the casino and memorable excursions with her grandchildren to the mountains or the lake. Consuelo was a familiar presence at various events, whether at a sports field for baseball or football, an auditorium for a band concert, or a dance competition for her great-grandchildren. Her presence will be profoundly missed.
She is proceed in death by her loving parents Francisco & Librada, her brothers Adislado, Francisco, Abraham, & Ujenio. Son In Law Mario Villa. Granddaughter Donna Marie Ortiz
She is survived by her children Pedro (Rita) Puentes, Jose Luis Puentes, Olga (Mike) Berrelleza, Connie (Santos) Guerreca, Jennie Villa, Ray (Susan) Ortiz, Mary (Marcos) Matheis, and Sister Lorenza Cardoza.
Rosary will be recited at 10am February 25th, 2026, at The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Flagstaff, Arizona
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am February 25th, 2026, at The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Flagstaff, Arizona. Reception to Follow after the Funeral Mass.
Interment/Burial to follow at a later date in Farmington, New Mexico.
