David "Dave" Hazzard, 63, of Farmington, New Mexico passed away on August 16, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1961, in Ajo, Arizona to Billy and Barbara Hazzard.
David graduated with his high school diploma at KCHS in 1979. After high school he was lead "screamer" front man for local band Starin' Black. He worked for PNM from 1981-1988 when he decided to pursue his degree. He went to college at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technolgy where he obtained his BS in Electrical Engineering and BS in Physics Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He then went to New Mexico State University where he obtained his MS in Electrical Engineering. After college David worked for Parkers and APS. David enjoyed rock-n-roll, reading, movies, and spending time with his family. He was contracted with West Peak Consulting as an engineering consultant/ project manager.
He is preceded in death by his father Billy Hazzard, his nephew Drew Hazzard as well as Wendy Longenbaugh (spouse of brother Jon)
David is survived by his daughter Lacy Lopez (Chris Lopez whom he loved like his own son), mother Barbara Hazzard, brothers Paul Hazzard (Angie), and Jon Hazzard, and grandchildren Kiersten Lopez and Kaylee Lopez. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church in Kirtland, New Mexico on Tuesday August 26, 2025, at 10:00AM. Burial will be held at Kirtland Fruitland Cemetery at 11:15 AM. A reception will follow at First Baptist Church in Kirtland, New Mexico at 11:45 AM.
Pallbearers are Tyson Uselman, Jacob Allcorn, Drew VerHaar, Jack Hazzard, Sean Hazzard, and Tristan Hazzard.
