David LeRoy Hawkins, 86, of Fruitland, NM passed away on July 5, 2026. He was born on July 1, 1940, in Tucson, AZ to LaVona and John Quinton Hawkins. 

David Hawkins returned home to our Heavenly Father July 5, 2026. David lived his life making those he loved feel cherished and important. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully all of his life. David was an artist who excelled in knife making and turning others trash in to treasure. David was adored by his students and spent 35+ years teaching and inspiring. He had a gift for thrifting and spent many days searching for rice cookers and bikes.David will be most remembered for being the best grandpa, affectionate father and devoted, eternal companion to his wife. His love for his family will carry on his memory and legacy for generations to come.   

He is preceded in death by his parents LaVona and John Quinton Hawkins, his sister LaVana Parke and his brother Norman Price. 

David is survived by his loving wife Sandra Hawkins, sons Samuel (AnaLisa) Hawkins, Michael (Shannon) Hawkins, and Daniel (Kayla) Hawkins, daughters Amy (Darrynn) Kamae, and Laura (Vern) Andrews, brother John (Elizabeth) Hawkins, sister Louise Jorgensen, grandchildren Darien Kamae-Jones (Cardon), Alika Kamae, Jonah Kamae, Maddy Kamae-Riggs (Ryan), Danielle Mower (Austin), Caitlin Watkins (Nicholas), Jordan Andrews, Jared Andrews, Michaela Smithson (Preston), Jacob Hawkins, Matthew Hawkins, Samuel Hawkins, Luke Hawkins, Nicholette Hawkins, Samantha Hawkins, Adriana Hawkins, David Hawkins, Cole Hawkins, and Marley Hawkins, and great-grandchildren Koalani Jones, Paisley Watkins, and Koi Jones.
