Dennis Clark Quillen, age 77 of Farmington, NM passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Dennis was born on January 18, 1946, in Durango, Colorado to the late Kermit and Evelyn Quillen. Dennis lived in Durango until his family moved to Wellington, KS in 1957. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1964. He continued his studies at UNM in hopes of becoming a teacher until January 31, 1966, when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Corporal on October 1st, 1967. While serving in the Marine Corps Dennis achieved The Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Expert Rifle Shooting Badge. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1971. Dennis moved to Farmington, NM in 1974 and worked for various phone companies and in his spare time started to install burglar alarms and video cameras, which lead him to open his own Alarm Company "Computer Ideas."
Dennis and Lorraine met in 1989 and were married on October 17, 1992. During their marriage Dennis became a Catholic and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Aztec, NM. He became very involved at St. Joseph Church and became a lecturer and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Men's Club where he served as a treasurer then president. Dennis also became a Knight on November 12, 2017, He became a scribe and then a faithful navigator. Dennis was a friend to all and would help anyone who needed it to the best of his ability. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart. During his retirement he loved fishing and found a love for model trains. He even sectioned off a spot in his attic to build a railroad track filled with model trains and full scenery.
Surviving is his wife of 30 years Lorraine, his daughter Amanda DeYoung (Dennis). Two grandchildren Justin and Autum DeYoung. Sisters-in-law: Marilyn Aragon (Leonard) and Verla Herrera.
The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am Saturday, May 6, 2023
Followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 from his parish St. Joseph Catholic Church, 500 N. Mesa Verde Ave, Aztec, NM 87410. Fr. Raja Yeruva and Fr. Pat Wedeking celebrants.
A reception will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Hall.
