With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Destiny Cheree Anaya, who was born on September 17, 1999. Though her time with us was far too short, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew her forever.

Destiny was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Larry and Laura Anaya, whose love and guidance helped shape the incredible woman she became.

She is lovingly survived by her mother, Courtney Anaya; her brother, Mason Schauer; and the greatest joy of her life, her daughter, Laila Serrano. She also leaves behind her cherished aunts and uncles, Eric, Melissa, Shannon, Kammi, Cameron, Dominic, and Donovan, along with many cousins whom she adored beyond measure. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Destiny had a personality that was uniquely her own. She inherited her Papa's quick wit, sarcasm, and unforgettable sense of humor. She had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and bringing joy into every room she entered. Even during life's most difficult moments, Destiny could lighten the mood with a joke or a silly comment that left everyone smiling. She reminded those around her that laughter could be found even in the hardest seasons.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Whether she was listening to her favorite 2000s R&B songs, Morgan Wallen or Red Hot Chili Peppers, watching episodes of Friends or Vampire Diaries, taking a well-deserved nap, enjoying her favorite snacks, or making memories on trips with her family, Destiny embraced the moments that brought her peace and happiness. More than anything else, she loved being surrounded by the people she cared about.

Above all, Destiny was a loving mother. Her daughter, Laila, was the light of her life and the reason behind so many of her dreams and hopes for the future. The love she had for her daughter was immeasurable, and that love will continue to live on through Laila.

Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the laughter she shared, the kindness she showed, and the love she gave will never fade. Destiny's spirit will continue to live on in the stories we tell, the memories we cherish, and the lives she touched so deeply.

She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

A celebration of Destiny’s life will be held on Friday, July 31st, 11:00 a.m. at Hills Church. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her life and sharing memories. A reception will immediately follow the service.
