Dezmer Harris

April 24, 1938 — October 16, 2025

Dezmer Jackson Harris, born April 24,1938, passed October 16,2025 at home in the care of his family. Born to Dezmer (slim) and Dorothy Harris in a tent house in Blanchard Oklahoma. He was the oldest of five children. He spent his youth ranching, farming, hunting and loving life with his family. He had a love for livestock and a passion for agriculture, an active member of the Future Farmers of America. He fell for Karen Reynolds (Harris), they married and started a family. His passion for livestock and farming led him to CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado to pursue a career as a vocational agriculture teacher and an FFA advisor. His career as a teacher was cut short because he did not agree with "school politics!" He was quoted to say. After his first two children were born he moved to Farmington, NM to work in the power line construction business with his family. Four States Electric, Climbing poles for many years. Jack was an avid horseman and raised his children to love every kind of animals from cats to, pigs. He ran a large herd of cattle and was an active member of the Farm Bureau. He spent many years guiding his children through 4-H and FFA and was known to be always available at the San Juan County fair to help with anything. Four States was and still is one of the first and longest supporters at the county fair junior livestock sale. After his children were raised he went back to his love of livestock and began breeding and racing horses. He was an active member of the New Mexico Racing association and had several winners. To keep his horse's company and his land active he added a herd of Boer goats. He farmed and cared for livestock until about 4 months ago, when his health made him step down. A greater man as his family we will never know, he was the best father, grandfather, leader, role model, boss and friend. He will be truly missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Dezmer and Dorothy Harris, wife Karen Harris and sister Jeanette Nichols. He is survived by his wife Ann Harris, sister Diane (Dick) Jones, sister Donna (Ben) Jenkins and brother Jim (Judy) Harris. Son Rob (Jaye) Harris, daughter Kristi Harris, daughter Paula (Dennis) Cook, daughter Jessica (Russell) Hodges, daughter Janika (Bob Reed) Harris, stepchildren Mike Fields, Rhonda Macdougale, Louise Hawkins and Sharon Parsons. He had 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren (one more on the way) and 1 Great-Great grandchild (one more on the way). Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There will be a memorial Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM at McGee Park in the new Poultry barn.
