Diolinda Jaquez

Diolinda Asucena Jaquez went to be with her heavenly father on April 23, 2018 in Blanco, NM at her lifetime home surrounded by her loving family. She was born along with her twin sister Marcella to Vicente and Concepcion Jaquez in Blanco, NM, always at each other’s side, caring for the Jaquez family homestead. Diolinda will be truly missed by many but especially by Marcella as they were the epitome of twin sisters!

Diolinda Asucena Jaquez was definitely a woman ahead of her time. She was smart, strong and beautiful inside and out. As a librarian in the Blanco Schools she taught students how to appreciate books, art and learning. Diolinda and Marcella took care of family members prior to their passing while running the family home. Her faith in God was unwavering and she loved her family. She researched family history back 200 years with meticulous detail. She taught herself how to crochet, and one of her prized possessions was a tablecloth, a replica of the Last Supper. She taught her family “Love is what you do and not three words you say”.

Diolinda was preceded in death by her parents Vicente and Concepcion Jaquez, brothers, Joe G. Jaquez, Wilford Jacquez and sisters Rosa Archuleta, Lucilla Selph and Carlota Gurule. She is survived by sisters Marcella Jaquez, and Vangie Candelaria, brother Max Jaquez and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Diolinda’s care is entrusted to Farmington Funeral Home. A rosary for Diolinda will be recited Friday at 7:00 pm and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday April 28th, both at St. Rose Catholic Church in Blanco, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to be mailed in honor of Diolinda Jaquez to St. Rose Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St. Bloomfield, NM 87413. Cremation will take place and a family service will be held at a later date.
