Mr. Donald Wayne "Spike" Ferguson, age 74 of Aztec, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday May 21, 2026. Don was born on February 14, 1952, in Oakland, California to Elbie Don Ferguson and Delilah Ketterer Ferguson.
Don "Spike" graduated from High School in 1970 and briefly attended college, but it wasn't for him so he enlisted in the United States Navy. Don served aboard the U.S.S. Harlan County. He had many jobs including cook, bouncer and construction. He found his true calling working leather as a cobbler. Spike ran a leather shop called "Don's Boot and Saddle" for many years. He took pride in his craft and took saddles, chaps, holsters and other leather works to trade shows and biker rallies. Spike was an athlete throughout his life. He played football, baseball and boxed. Spike boxed while aboard the U.S.S. Harlan County and was undefeated. Later he fought semi-professionally managed by Jose Herrera.
Don was preceded in death by his Parents Elbie and Delilah Ferguson. His son Jesse Ferguson, twins Jesse and Jamie Ferguson and his sister Katrina Ferguson.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years Lorrie, His daughters; Leah Ferguson, Lydia (Sergio) Figaretto and Rachel Ferguson. Stepchildren: Joshua (Shanna) Rixon, Jessica (Austen) Carling, Carl (Katelyn) Rixon, Daughter-in-law: Tina Ferguson.
Grandchildren: Faith Ferguson, Seciliah Ferguson, Trinity, Connor and Rowan Ferguson, Esma and Milo Figaretto, Blaize, Aeson, Kian, Ava, Rylan Carling, Lane and Koraleigh Rixon. Sydney (Brooks) Rixon-Dennis and Logan Phillips.
Sisters: Linda (Nino) Quist-Marks and Jill (Ken) Elkins. Brothers: Michael (Lori) Ferguson, Joel Ferguson and Jason (Loretta) Ferguson. Several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Viewing and Visitation with the family will be held Saturday May 30th, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by funeral services at The Aztec Church of Latter-day Saints, 505 North Oliver Dr. Aztec, New Mexico 87410. Interment Aztec Cemetery. A celebration of Don's life will follow graveside services at the Aztec Church of Latter-day Saints.
