Douglas Berry

August 21, 1960 — May 14, 2024

Douglas Omer Berry, 63, of Bloomfield NM, peacefully returned to his home in Heaven, on May 14, 2024, after his history of congestive heart failure.

Douglas was born on August 21, 1960 to Lester and Louise Berry in Iowa City, Iowa. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and then to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they resided for many years. In his teenage years, Douglas played violin for Albuquerque Junior Symphony. He taught himself how to play the guitar. He attended Our Lady Fatima Private School and graduated from Highland High School where he was on the wrestling team. He was a mechanic for over 40 years because of his love and passion for cars. Douglas met the love of his life, Maria, in 1985, and they were married in February of 1986. Douglas attended Grace Baptist Church of Farmington, NM, where he was an AWANA's leader, he was a member of the church choir, and he sang and played guitar for many church specials with mostly original songs. Douglas and Maria enjoyed many family vacations with their two sons. Douglas lived by these three values, God first, family second, and work third. He valued a hard work ethic and passed the value of hard work to his sons. A great joy to Douglas was his grandchildren. Douglas spent these last 10 years working at NAPA in Bloomfield. He enjoyed helping any customer and sharing his knowledge with everyone.

Douglas was predeceased in death by Lester Berry. Douglas is survived by his wife, Maria; sons, Michael (Gerralynn), and John (Brittney); his mother, Louise of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Diane, Donna, and Lisa (Sean); brothers, Daniel, David (Susan), and Patrick (Lana); grandchildren, Emalyn and Jaxton; numerous extended family, treasured NAPA coworkers and friends.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at Grace Baptist Church, 2200 N Sullivan Ave, Farmington, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to a charity of your choice.
