Doyal Wayne Humphries, aged 88, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his daughters in his home in Farmington, NM. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, Doyal touched the lives of many with his wisdom, humor, Christian demeanor and unwavering dedication to serving others.
Born on July 23, 1937 in Comanche, OK, Doyal was the sixth of eight siblings. He married his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris Dilks, in 1957. They moved to Rankin, TX to follow his oilfield career with Halliburton and eventually transferred to Cortez, CO and finally Farmington, NM where he retired after 35 years service. He made many life long friends while working for Halliburton and loved telling his oilfield stories.
Doyal found joy in serving his church, First Baptist Church Bloomfield, of which he was a member for 46 years. He was a deacon for 35 years and was honored with the title of Deacon Emeritus in 2024. He taught second grade Sunday school class for 20 years, served as facility manager 5 years, taught in vacation Bible school, and went on several youth mission trips to prepare meals for the youth. He also participated in the Big Brother/Big Sister program where he met his “little buddy” Randy. Together they participated in Special Olympics and many other fun activities. He was an inspiration to many, young and old.
Doyal was preceded in death by his wife Doris Humphries. He is survived by his daughters Pam (Rick) Siluk, Paula (Jerry) Holden and Sharon (Rusty) Ware; by his brother Bill Humphries, sisters Millie Humphries and Jeraldine Graham; by his grandchildren April Brisbi, Erin Holden, Jessica Ware, Brandon McAdams, Todd Siluk, and Daniel Siluk; by his great grandchildren Tyler, Devihn, Kahlan, Noelle, and Calvin; his “Little buddy” Randy Griffith and numerous nieces and nephews.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.”
Viewing will be held at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, NM on Wednesday, August 20 at 10am. Funeral services will follow immediately at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 1:00 pm Memory Gardens Cemetery Farmington NM.
