Dwayne Owen, 64, of Farmington, passed away at his home June 4th after a long courageous battle against cancer.

Dwayne was born on February 7, 1954 in Portales, NM to Noel and Evelyn Owen. He attended Portales public schools and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts in 1977.

Dwayne began his teaching career at Cuba High School in 1978, where he taught Industrial Arts for 5 years. He then taught at Heights Junior High until his retirement in 2005. The summer of 2005 he began working on Cat Island, Bahamas building vacation homes. Upon his return to Farmington in 2008 he began his career as Maintenance Supervisor for Red Mesa Express.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Terri; daughter Kimberly of Albuquerque; two sisters, Renelda Reed of Lovington, NM and Annise Chetelat of Phoenix, AZ; two nieces and two nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Sonbol and all the infusion nurses at the Mayo Clinic for their diligence in care of Dwayne. Thank you to Basin Hospice for the care and concern.

A celebration of life will be held at Heights Middle School in Farmington on Saturday, June 16th at 10 AM.
