Obituary

Edgar Eugene Sellers passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, just three days shy of his 97th birthday. He fought courageously to reach that milestone, but God had other plans. His life was defined by love, resilience, leadership, and devotion to family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

Edgar was born on February 8, 1929, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana to Ada Mae Bailey Sellers and Daniel Webster Sellers. He was one of 11 children and outlived his parents and all 10 of his siblings: Daniel W. Lois, Norman Ruth, Simi Lee, Eva Jewel, Wyatt, Lilian, Ebby Arlene, George, and Augusta Lucille. 

At just 16 years old, Edgar enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving 4 years during World War II. Following his service, he utilized the GI bill to further his education.

Edgar lived in Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Colorado before later settling in Farmington, New Mexico. He began his professional career in the oil industry performing laboratory analysis before entering the restaurant business. In October 1967, he opened the Old Heidelberg Inn in Golden, Colorado. He loved the town of Golden, and the town loved him in return. 

He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and hosted numerous events supporting the Colorado School of Mines Little League Sports and Community celebrations. His leadership and Hospitality left a lasting impression. After closing the Heidelberg Inn in 1981, Edgar joined the hotel and restaurant industry with Holiday Inn corporation, we're management was his Forte. He retired in 2001 at the age of 72. 

He has survived his loving wife of 56 years, Karin Sellers, his sons Michael/Francine Sellers and David/Michelle Sellers and a large and cherished family of grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  

Michael S. Sellers and wife Francine: Hannah Nichols, Michael Jr., Luke, Taylor, Brandon, Jaylynn, and Ashlynn. David E. Sellers and wife Michelle: Ashtyn, Zandrea/Elvis, Trynity, Kylie, Damion, Alyssa/Kyle, Camille, and Kingston. 

He is preceded in death by his son Donald Sellers/Marta who has two children Jason and Thomas/Shanna, Aiden (deceased), Cassandra and Marley. 

Edgar's legacy of strength, generosity, faith, and unwavering love will live on in the generations he leaves behind. 

He will never be forgotten. 

A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 14, 2026, at Farmington Funeral Home. A viewing will follow at 12:00PM. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:30 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

A reception (Taco Buffet) will be at 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM at "No Worries" (1298 W. Navajo Street, Farmington, NM 87401)
