Edward “Eddie” Ray Swisher, 44, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Eddie was born October 25, 1981, in Farmington, New Mexico.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Owen; his siblings, Lawrence “Lolo” Owen, Michael Owen (Jessica), Stephany Swisher, Joshua Swisher, and Samantha Swisher; his nieces, Kalia, Aurelia, and Gabriella Owen; nephews, Cayden and Carter Owen; grandfather, Ed Swisher Sr.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sidney Ray and Deborah “Debbie” Bates; his paternal grandparents, Joe Ann Swisher, Tom Owen Sr., and Alice Owen; his stepfather, Lawrence Owen, who raised him; and his father, James “Jim” Swisher, with whom he formed a meaningful relationship later in life.
Eddie lived a quiet and simple life. While he often preferred solitude, his world changed when he became an uncle to his beloved nieces. He loved spending time with them, helping care for them as babies, laughing and playing together. One of his favorite games was chasing them around the house after they stole the cap off his head. Those moments brought him great happiness and are memories his family will always cherish.
Eddie enjoyed watching professional basketball, especially cheering for his favorite team, the Chicago Bulls. He also enjoyed smoking a cigarette while watching crime stories, forensic shows, and stand-up comedy on TV. He liked sharing the funny jokes he heard.
Those who knew Eddie will always remember his contagious laugh. When something truly amused him, his laughter would fill the room and bring a smile to everyone around him. Eddie was a very kind-hearted person who never had an unkind word to say about anyone.
His family will forever cherish his laughter, his kindness, and the simple joy he brought by just being himself—the small “hey, what’s up” with a head nod, or the little shoulder shrug he would give when asked something before retreating back to his quiet space.
May Eddie now find the peace and happiness that life sometimes denied him. He will be deeply loved and missed.
Eddie’s care has been entrusted to Farmington Funeral Home. Per his wishes, there will be no service.
