Elmer Sherman

Elmer Morris Sherman, 94 of Farmington, New Mexico, Passed away August 17th, 2021, in Farmington. Elmer was born January 23, 1927, in Pomerene, Arizona to Walter Branson Sherman and Bertha Septema Coons.

Elmer graduated from the 8th grade in Pomerene Arizona. He went on to Serve in the U.S. Navy from 1943-45 in the Aleutian Islands. Elmer worked and retired from El Paso Natural Gas. He was an avid sportsman, playing softball, basketball, and participating in boxing. Elmer also loved calf roping and team roping. He was a member of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Posse. Elmer was also a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and served as Bishop and other various callings.

Elmer is preceded in death by both his parents, Walter and Bertha, Five Brothers, and Six Sisters.

Elmer is survived by his wife Lila Mae Sherman; his sons Alan (Janet) Sherman, Roger (Bonnie) Sherman, Brett (Carolyn) Sherman, Nick (Gevene) Sherman; His daughter Tamara (Edwin – Deceased) Black; 21 Grandchildren; 63 Great-Grand Children; and 8 Great-Great-Grand Children.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00AM August 28, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Bloomfield, located at 804 W. Blanco Blvd in Bloomfield. Burial will follow at 12:00PM at East Hammond Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kenneth A. Sherman, Brian E. Sherman, Aaron R. Sherman, Ryan J. Sherman, Tyson Sherman, Trevor Vanhouton, and Daniel Eaddy.
