Ernest Allen Gunnell

Ernest Allen Gunnell, 68, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on October 18, 2023, in Farmington, New Mexico. Ernest was born on May 10, 1955, in Phoenix, Arizona, to parents Ernest Wilbourne Gunnell & Betty Jean Younger Gunnell.

Ernest graduated from High School in Garden Grove, California in 1974. He retired as a Carpenter’s Foreman from San Juan Power Plant. He LOVED motorcycles, was a collector of many things and was an avid storyteller. Ernie was so well loved by every person that he knew. He will be so deeply missed by them all!

Ernie is preceded by his nephew Jason Gunnell, parents Betty Jean & Ernest Gunnell, brother Tommy Gunnell and sister-in-law Cindy Gunnell, grandparents Opal Viola Younger, James A. Younger, Lorene Gunnell, and Ernest Gunnell.

Ernie is survived by his sons Kieran (Beth) Diedrich, and Ernie Gunnell, daughter Sara Gunnell, Brothers Emmett (Bonnie) Gunnell, Evan Gunnell, sisters Teresa (Tim) Payne, Tami Gunnell, and Tracie (Matt) Sorenson, including 7 grandchildren, and 20 nieces and nephews.

A Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 12:00pm-1:00pm, at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache Street, Farmington, NM. Followed by a graveside at Flora Vista Cemetery at 2:00pm.
