In the early morning hours of June 7, 2018, Gene jumped on his Harley and raced off to heaven to join his beloved wife Joy in celebrating her birthday. Gene was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 3, 1925. Soon after the family moved to Utah where they lived and worked as produce farmers, and where he learned to be a mechanic. In 1943 he left the Standard Motor Company in Price Utah and Joined the US Navy. Gene was a WWII Veteran having served on the USS Langley, USS Newcastle Victory, also as a paramedic in the Navy Hospital in San Francisco, California. He was awarded the Victory Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and American Area Ribbon.
Gene loved life and he was a very hard worker. He also loved to tinker He and his wife Joy rode a Harley Davidson from coast to coast and border to border, spending a year together seeing the sites. They also loved hooking up their 5th wheel trailer and heading off to Mexico to go fishing. Gene was an accomplished mechanic, welder and was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He could fix anything. Yet his greatest job in life was being husband to Joy and father to his six children Lynna, Dan, Joe, Jill, Jan and Jimmy. Gene was proceeded in death by his wife Joy, Daughter Lynna, Sons Dan and Joe Hadden, his parents Alfred Earl and Anna Louise Hadden, Step mother Ruby Vera Hadden who raised him, sister LaVea and brothers Franklin and Clifton Hadden and one Granddaughter. He leaves behind Daughter Jill of Louisiana, Jan of Albuquerque, and son Jimmy (Debbie) of Santee California. Sister Leona Potter of Price Utah, Brother Owen Lee of Florida and Buddy of St. John Utah, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
On a special note of love from his caregivers Jessica and Russell Hodges who cared for him the last two years of his life, IT WAS AN HONOR AND PRIVLEAGE. Gene is in the care of Farmington Funeral Home where he will be cremated, with a service following at a later date in Price Utah.
