In 1981 they moved to Kirtland, New Mexico. Eugene went on the road to work with ABF out of Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1984-1995. As a Teamster driver he traveled from coast to coast with double and triple trailers loaded with freight. Ultimately retiring from the company with over three million accident free driving miles and multiple awards.
When Gene and Mary were not at the casino on a Friday night dancing and spending time with his many "buddies" as he called them he was at one of his daughters homes to see what sweets he could make away with. Gene enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids, also enjoyed his flowers and sitting in his front yard, music and his western movies
