Frances Johnson

Frances P. Johnson, 92, of Farmington, passed away January 26, 2018. She was born in Bear Canyon, CO near Trinidad, CO, to John & Minnie (Smircich) Benich. She was one of the youngest of twelve children.

She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Trinidad, CO and attended Trinidad Junior College where she completed a 2 year associate degree in secretarial skills and business.  She met her future husband while working in the admissions office at TJC as he enrolled for classes after returning from WWII.  She married Martin Johnson in 1947.

Fran loved being a homemaker and a mother to her three children.  She was an office manager for her husband’s optometric practice for many years.  She loved to garden and especially enjoyed growing roses, African violets, and orchids.  In addition, she enjoyed Jazzercise, and traveling and fishing with her husband when she was younger.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, John & Minnie Benich; brothers, John, Frank, George, Nick and Tom Benich; sisters, Mary McCleary, Mildred Latuda, Ann Benich and Tillie Benich. She is survived by her husband, Martin L. Johnson; sons, Ron Johnson (Stacey) and Mark Johnson (Teresa); daughter, Sue Johnson (Jim Zabilski); 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
