Frederick George Roesemann

Frederick George Roesemann, 69, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on August 20, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. Frederick was born on October 1, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Frederick & Elizabeth Roesemann.

Fred lived a very full and active life. Not a day went by that he was not out and about doing something he loved. Throughout his life he has had many hobbies and interests. Some were short lived, and others became lifelong passions; either way he was always fully engaged and enthusiastic in everything he did. As his kids were growing up, he was actively involved with them in 4H, Boy Scouts, archery, shooting sports and other various sports. Fred loved to tinker in his shop and around the house building various things and could fix almost anything. It seems he owned every tool and gadget out there. He loved nature and traveling. He retired from the City of Farmington Power Plant in 2007. Upon his retirement he became even more active and began to pursue new things including astronomy, Tai Chi, photography, painting, drawing, cooking, flying RC planes and driving RC cars. He became more active in the community attending farmers markets, civic center events, music in the park, museum events and other happenings around Farmington with more frequency. He took the opportunity to further explore his lifelong love of music. He began taking classes at San Juan College to learn to play the Djembe. From there his passion and community grew. He learned to play the congas, bongos, Djun Djuns, xylophone, bells, cata, jam blocks and other various percussion instruments traditionally found in African and Cuban music. The drums and drumming community became a major part of his life. He was part of multiple drumming groups. He even joined a band, Alegria, where he truly embraced being a performer. He could be seen in true bliss singing, dancing and playing a variety of instruments for all to enjoy. He was also an avid HAM radio operator. He took great pride in participating in POTA (parks on the air) and other DX’ing activities. This allowed him to talk to and befriend people from all over the world. It also afforded him opportunities to travel, see and explore more of the country. Fred devoted 30 years of his life to shooting sports, particularly archery. He was a member of the San Juan Archers, NRA and San Juan Wildlife Federation. He spent much of his time teaching and bringing people into shooting sports. He was incredibly knowledgeable and always available to help others set up equipment. He organized competitions and could always be found volunteering for events and clean up days. This led him to participate in the Senior Olympics for Archery where he placed and was sent to nationals to further compete. He was given and took the opportunity to run the torch for the opening of the Senior Olympics. Fred valued physical activity including weightlifting, hiking, and walking but ultimately, he was an avid runner. He would routinely run 4-8 miles on a daily basis and has completed marathons. Even with two hip replacements he found it a priority to enjoy Berg/Animas Park as often as possible over the past 20+ years.

Fred was outgoing, energetic, charismatic and very chatty, and as a result he made friends everywhere he went. He didn’t waste a second and he enjoyed every minute of life he had. He has been an impactful part of the greater Farmington area and the people who reside here since he moved here from Brookly New York in 1981. Fred has had a positive impact on so many lives over the course of his. He truly will be missed and remembered fondly by so many.

Fred is preceded by his parents Frederick and Elizabeth Roesemann.

Fred is survived by his wife Teri Roesemann, son Michael Roesemann, daughter Jennifer LeClaire (Roesemann) and husband Mark LeClair, grandchildren Jett, Jude, and Lydia LeClair.
