Gerad Silversmith

Gerad Silversmith, 29, of Shiprock, New Mexico, passed away on October 13, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. Gerad was born on July 4, 1997, in Shiprock, New Mexico, to parents Aleda Myerson and Gerald Silversmith.

He was born to the Bitter Water Clan (Tó díchʼíiʼnii), born for the Coyote Pass People Clan (Mąʼii Deeshgiizhinii). His maternal grandfathers are of the Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out-In-A-Line Clan (Hashkʼąą Hadzohí), and his paternal grandfathers are of the Towering House Clan (Kin Yaʼáanii).

Gerad attended Kirtland Central High School and graduated in 2015. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, cooking on the grill and hunting. He also enjoyed 3D Archery competitions. But most of all he loved fishing. When he was inside, he would be playing his PlayStation with his Hailey Bugs next to him. He was also an employee at CCSD.

Gerad is preceded in death by his grandfather Fred A. Begay.

Gerad is survived by his parents Aleda Myerson, Gerald Silversmith, brother Gerard Silversmith, sisters Sherie Silversmith and LeAnne Silversmith, grandparents Bernita Begay, Angela Silversmith shinálí asdzą́ą́, and Cecil Silversmith shinálí hastiin.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 1:00pm at Shiprock High School Commons.
