Glen A Homer born November 6, 1946 in Wellington Texas to parents R.A. Homer and Corene Lucille Wisdom. His brothers Alvin R., Darvin, Donald, John Homer had all passed prior to him. He is survived by his brother Curtis Homer in Idaho.
Glen joined the Navy at age 17. He was a Quartermaster and earned the rank of Petty Officer Third Class while stationed aboard the USS Alfred A Cunningham (DD-752). He had two deployments to Vietnam between 1965-1967. He was honorably discharged in November of 1967. Later in in life he would be diagnosed with PTSD along with other related disabilities due to war time activities. Like many other veterans at that time, he was not treated with honor after returning home from Vietnam.
He married Caralyn Sue and had a son Brian Keith Homer (Edmiston). They divorced in 1970.
He married Milly Beth Stirman and had three children Schon Patrick Homer (1972-1988), Rollin Ray Homer, Hattie Dawn Homer (Clayton). They divorced in 1976.
On October 6th 1979 he married Bobby Jean (Jeanie) Montgomery. They had a daughter Amanda Jean Homer (Jones).
While his early life was in western Texas in his mid-teens he relocated to Farmington New Mexico. Most of his life was spent in the Four corners region of New Mexico and Colorado. He was a New Mexico State Trooper, a Sheriff officer for the Durango Police Department in Colorado. He went to college in Las Cruses New Mexico. He eventually became a Telephone Lineman for Mountain Bell which became Quest then Century Link. He retired in 2003.
After retirement they moved to Lebanon Missouri. In 2006 they moved to Grand Prairie Texas. In 2017 they returned to Farmington New Mexico and lived until his death on March 13th 2026.
He was a proud grandpa to 11 grandchildren, Dakota Clayton, Hayden Clayton, Dax Edmiston, Drake Edmiston, Dalin Edmiston, Nevaeh Homer, Kamiah Homer, Jayshaun Jones, Savannah Jones, Allison Homer and Rylland Homer. And one great grandson Ryley Edmiston. And a proud uncle to many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held later in the year at the Vietnam Veterans Cemetery in Santa Fe.
