It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenda Jean (Potter) York on September 27th, 2026, in the loving presence of her family at San Juan Regional. Born on May 19th, 1944, in Tuttle, Oklahoma, Glenda was the cherished daughter of James William Potter and Dorothy Catherine (Patterson) Potter.

Glenda was a woman of grace and fortitude, whose journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Tipton High School before pursuing her passion at Beauty School in Wichita Falls, Texas. Her career saw her working diligently in various roles, including at a hosiery mill in North Carolina, the Levi jeans company in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and later at the Aztec Burger Hut and Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Aztec, New Mexico. Glenda devoted 25 years of service to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Aztec, where her caring nature and work ethic left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

In 1964, Glenda married the love of her life, John Albert York, and together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Cynthia Yvonne York of Aztec, NM, Connie Machelle Cordell (Todd) of Rigby, Idaho, and Melissa Ann York of Aztec, NM. and a son: Jay Alan York. Her legacy of love continues through her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Glenda was a true Southern Belle, known for her charming accent and her warmth towards everyone she met. She was a steadfast Denver Broncos fan, enjoyed gardening, and loved to read. Her passion for travel allowed her to visit family and explore new places, always making cherished memories along the way. Her faith journey began as a child attending the Church of Christ, and her life was a testament to her deep care for friends and family.

Preceded in death by her ex husband John Albert York, parents James William and Dorothy Catherine Potter, siblings: Delores Beggs, and Ruth Lucille Lee, and son: Jay Alan York, Glenda's memory will be carried forward by her surviving siblings: Sheila Smith (Darvin) of Lawton, OK, Ester Folmer of Apache Junction, AZ, and James Potter (Sharon) of Drumright, OK.

A service to celebrate Glenda's life will be held on October 4th, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Farmington Funeral Home, located at 2111 W. Apache St., Farmington, NM 87401. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to San Juan Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care provided to Glenda.

Glenda will be remembered as a woman of strength, kindness, and unwavering love. Her beautiful spirit touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
