Gloria Carlota Garcia-Solis, 80, of Farmington, NM passed away on January 15, 2026. She was born on March 11, 1945, in El Paso, TX to Ofene A. Garcia and Carlota Romero-Garcia.

After graduating from college, Gloria entered the workforce and moved to California and then New Jersey. Her career soon took her to Mexico, where she met the love of her life, Gilbert. Together, they embraced a life of adventure, exploring Mexico and creating memories that would shape their future. In 1975, they were married, officially beginning their life together.

In 1976, Gloria and Gilbert returned to the United States and settled in Hollister, California. The following year, in 1977, they were blessed with a son, Dennis, to whom Gloria devoted her life. She lovingly put her career on hold to become a full-time mother and wife. While their family grew, their spirit of adventure never faded. Annual trips to New Mexico and countless journeys throughout California became treasured family traditions.

After Gilbert retired, the couple moved to Albuquerque to be closer to family. Eventually, they settled in Farmington to be near Dennis, his wife Jayme, and son Greyson. This allowed Dennis to look after his parents as they got on in age. Gloria’s greatest joy was living just four houses away from her grandson, Greyson. Having three generations so close together was a gift she cherished deeply.

Throughout her life, Gloria formed many lasting friendships. One of the most meaningful was her recent friendship with Pat Maldonado, who was entrusted with helping care for her. Neither Pat nor Gloria expected that such a strong bond would form in such a short time, but Pat quickly became as dear to Gloria as family.

Gloria’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family and friends. Yet, we take comfort in knowing she was called to do greater work. She is no longer in pain and can walk again, now walking with our Lord in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ofene A. Garcia and Carlota Romero-Garcia, and grandparents (maternal) Juan Andres & Juanita Romero and (paternal) Bersabe & Lucio Garcia.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband Gilbert Solis Jr., son Dennis O. Solis (Jayme Solga-Solis), sister Juanita Lucero (Dan Lucero), and grandchild Greyson Charles Solis.

A celebration of life will be at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on January 31, 2026, at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St. Farmington, NM 87401. A reception will follow at Knights of Columbus, 305 N Orchard Ave, Farmington, NM 87401.

Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Solis Jr., Dennis O. Solis, and Greyson C. Solis.
