Gordon Reevs

May 23, 1929 — January 6, 2026

Aztec. New Mexico

Gordon Reevs, age 96, entered into eternal rest surrounded by love, faith, and the stories of a life beautifully lived.

Born and raised on Shelter Island, New York, Gordon learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and family at an early age. As a young man, he helped his parents run a bed and breakfast, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for people, conversation, and shared stories-qualities that would come to define him.

As a teenager, Gordon headed west to New Mexico, where he became a cowboy and worked on a ranch. Those years became the foundation of countless tales he would joyfully relive again and again, each retelling filled with humor, detail, and the unmistakable sparkle of someone who truly loved life.

Gordon proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, a chapter of his life marked by courage, sacrifice, and deep respect for his fellow servicemen. His service remained a quiet source of pride and gratitude throughout his life.

He had a lifelong love for sports of all kinds, whether he was watching a game or actively joining in. He especially cherished the time spent playing sports with his children, creating moments filled with laughter, friendly competition, and lasting memories. Those games were never just about winning, but about togetherness and joy. A devoted New York Yankees fan, Gordon followed his favorite team with enthusiasm and loyalty, finding great pleasure in cheering them on season after season.

Gordon's family brought him great joy. He was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather, always eager to share memories, lessons, and laughter with the generations that followed him. The stories of his adventures became family treasures that will continue to be passed down.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom will carry his voice, his laughter, and his stories in their hearts forever. Though he will be deeply missed, his life remains a testament to faith, adventure, and the beauty of a life well lived. He is now reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death, resting in the peace of God's eternal embrace. May he rest in eternal peace
