Obituary

Harold William Miller, age 80, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 7, 2026.

Born on June 1, 1946, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Harold was the son of Lyle Robert Miller and Virginia Rose (Baldwin) Miller. As a premature infant, he was lovingly adopted and raised by his uncle and aunt, Harold William Miller Sr. and Loretta Josephine (Knecht) Miller.

Family was the heart of Harold’s life. He treasured his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, offering wisdom, encouragement, prayer, laughter, and unconditional love. His steady presence made those around him feel deeply valued and loved.

A devoted Christian, Harold faithfully served as a minister, worship leader, teacher, mentor, carpenter, and friend. Music was one of God’s greatest gifts in his life. In his younger years, he performed with a local band at community events and charitable fundraisers, playing songs made famous by Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and others. Later, he dedicated his musical talents to worship ministry, using music to glorify God and encourage others in their faith. Through his ministry, prayers, wisdom, and example, he touched countless lives.

Harold was preceded in death by his biological and adoptive parents; his brothers, Walter “Chuck” Miller and Lyle Miller; his stepsister, Peggy Whitley; his beloved wife, LaVon Miller; and his son, Lyle Miller.

He is survived by his daughters, LaVon Shedd (Chuck), LaWanda Samora (Chris Evans), Laura Miller, and stepdaughter Virginia Wilson (Drew); the family of his late son, Lyle Miller; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Harold’s kindness and generosity extended far beyond his family. He spent more than twenty-five years as Head of Live Racing Security at SunRay Park & Casino, where he formed lasting friendships and mentored many throughout the years.

Those who knew Harold will remember a man of sincere faith, humble character, and unwavering devotion to God. His prayers brought comfort, his music uplifted hearts, and his life reflected the love of Christ. Though deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the faith he shared, the lives he touched, and the family he loved so dearly. He is now healed and at peace in the presence of his Savior.

A memorial service and celebration of Harold’s life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church at 121 N Auburn Ave, Farmington, NM 87401; officiated by Keith Berryman, Ph.D., Senior Pastor. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate a life devoted to God, family, and service to others.
