James Thomas Rogers passed away on September 5, 2026 in Farmington, NM surrounded by his family. Jim was born on September 23, 1945, to Opal Matilda Hastings and Thomas Owen Rogers in Mena, Arkansas. He was almost 81 years old.
He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. A true American cowboy who loved to work the land and raise cattle. He was a registered pharmacist for 48 years, and served the people of this community. Jim served on the board of San Juan Regional Medical Center for several years. He built a life anchored in service, hard work, and honesty. His service also extended to his faith and his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Louise Wheeler; and his children Elizabeth (Chris Ledek), Zachary (Jamie Bish), Delia (Tom Cope), Sarah (Marsh Kimbell), Chance (Rachel Lucero), Dillon Johnson ( Rachel ), Jay Johnson (Chelsea), and Vicky Johnson; 18 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 11 from 6-8 pm at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St. Farmington, New Mexico. The memorial service will be held on September 12, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on 10 RD 6523 in Kirtland, NM. Graveside services will follow at Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery, 59 Rd 6580 Kirtland, NM 87417.
In lieu of flowers please take your family out to dinner and cherish every minute.
