Janet Kay Hank

Jan 11, 1947 — Sep 29, 2026

Aztec, New Mexico

Janet (Jan) Kay Hank, 79, passed away and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on September 29, 2026.

Early Life and Faith

Jan was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on January 11, 1947, as the only child of Harvie and Zonell Edmisten. After spending parts of her early childhood in Silver City, New Mexico, and Chicago, Illinois, her family eventually made their home in Aztec, New Mexico. It was during these early years that Jan developed a lifelong love for fishing alongside her father and built a steadfast personal faith. Joining the Aztec Church of the Nazarene at a young age, she began teaching Sunday school as a teenager-a passion through which she shared Jesus' love with many and helped lead her own mother to faith.

Family Life and Community Service

After graduating from Aztec High School in 1965, Jan married her soulmate, John Hank. They were blessed with two children, Julie and Jay. Jan fully embraced motherhood, prioritizing instilling a deep love for Jesus in her children and nurturing their spiritual growth. She cherished spending time outdoors camping and fishing at the lake with her family. An enthusiastic supporter of her husband, she was always in the stands cheering for the orange No. 32 car and became a fixture in the local racing community. Family was central to Jan's life, and she cherished each and every one of them deeply.

In her professional life, Jan served as a Special Education teacher's assistant at Aztec High School, warmly referring to the students as "her kids." Her gentle nature and compassion left an enduring impression on her students, who often greeted her with warm hugs whenever they crossed paths. Jan was dearly loved by everyone blessed to know her.

Preceded in Death

Jan was preceded in death by her loving parents, Harvie and Zonell Edmisten, and her son, John "Jay" Hank Jr.
