Janice Marie O’Hare, 92, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on October 12, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. Janice was born on August 5, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Melvin Fredrick Nelson & Marie Claire Falter Nelson.

After graduating from Technical High School in North Fort Worth, Jan hoped to study art at Texas Women’s University. They welcomed three children stateside before being stationed to the Pacific Islands of Okinawa and Hawaii. In 1968, the family moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where Jan found work primarily as a bookkeeper. While raising her family she maintained her interest in Art, which she found expression in painting, sewing, needlepoint and crochet. Having played trumpet when she was younger instilled a lifelong appreciation for a wide range of music. Along with art and music Jan had a love of history and genealogy. She will be remembered for her good humor, willingness to make new friends and a generous spirit.

Jan is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Eldon O’Hare, her parents Melvin Fredrick Nelson & Marie Claire Falter Nelson, and her sister Charlotte Maurine McQuillian.
