Obituary

Jason Mitchell Baber, age 45, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on January 4, 2026, surrounded by his wife Joy and daughters Judith and Edith.

Jason was born on June 22, 1980, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Cindy Lyn Campbell-Marshall and Royce Baber. He was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jason relocated to Farmington, New Mexico, in 2008, which he called home for the remainder of his life. While living in Farmington, he worked at Ashley Furniture as an Assistant Supervisor, until 2009 when he began his career at New Mexico Gas Company. Jason started his career at NMGC as a senior service technician. He had many roles at NMGC such as a Senior Operations Representative, Gas Systems Technician, Senior Designer, and his final role as a Project Manager. Jason took great pride in his work, and he Designed and Project Managed many natural gas projects throughout the years. He worked with many different types of customers, and he often supported his wife’s work as the district engineer for NMGC and they collaborated on projects of all types.

Jason loved spending time with his wife, Joy, and his daughters Edith and Judith. He was the best dad to his girls, and he was also an amazing “cat dad” to his three cats Rowan, Kyla, and Luna. Any time he would take a nap on the sofa, his family would find him covered in cats within minutes. He was a man of many talents and took on many projects around the house. It wasn’t like him to take a break for very long. He kept himself busy working on cars, doing electrical work, teaching himself to pick locks, and building anything he could think of. Jason was known for his time spent in his garage. Jason had an eclectic taste in music, often playing music throughout the house at full volume to do even the most mundane tasks. Jason only showed his fun, silly side at home, and his family will miss those special moments where he teased and joked with them. Jason was so proud of all of his daughters’ accomplishments and wanted to be here for all these moments throughout their lives. He beamed with love every time he spoke about his girls. He loved working with his wife, Joy. They commuted to and from work together, worked together on projects, and spent time together at home, all while remaining the best of friends. His wife cherishes having a best friend and husband who she had the extreme honor and pleasure of spending all of her time with.

Jason would light up a room with his smile and voice. He loved everyone who came into his life. He took care of his mother-in-law and his wife’s aunts. Anything they needed, he would do. He had endless love to give and never hesitated to help anyone. Jason would carry around extra pairs of shoes and hand them out to the homeless community. He shared conversations and meals with them and would often check on them during harsh weather conditions. Something his family remembers him for is his huge cologne collection. He always smelled amazing and would also take pride in his appearance. Jason took time every day to show his daughters the value of hard work and encouraged them through everything they did.

Jason is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Baber of Farmington, New Mexico, his daughters Edith Baber of Farmington, New Mexico, and Judith Baber of Farmington, New Mexico. Jason is also survived by his father, Royce Baber, stepmother, Lisa Baber; brother, Adam Baber; ex-wife, Michele Ryan; grandparents, Patsy and Richard Bachand; mother-in-law, Maryann Francis; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles who all loved him dearly.

Jason is preceded in death by his loving mother, Cindy Lyn Campbell-Marshall.

Jason will be remembered as a selfless, loving person who always spoiled his wife and daughters. He was the best dad and husband. His dedication to his family will forever be missed and cherished.
