JB Hunt III, also known as Micki, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 22, 2023, from Bee Hive IV in Farmington, NM, following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Micki, 85, was born September 21, 1937, in Phoenix, AZ, to JB Hunt II and Audra Vivian Hill Hunt. He graduated from Buckeye High School in Buckeye, AZ. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Costilow, he soon began his 36-year career with Arizona Public Service at the Four Corners Power Plant in Fruitland, NM. Micki started as a fuel handler and moved up to auxiliary operator, control operator, maintenance shop foreman, senior instructor of operations and union steward.
Micki and Patti were married for 44 years before her death. Micki and Joyce (Zaffke) were married for 23 years and shared many good times and happy memories.
Micki was preceded in death by: wife Patti in 1999; daughter Terri Leigh Porcaro in 2021; and, stepdaughter Melody Kelly in 2022.
He is survived by: son Michael Hunt, Porter, TX; daughter Marji Hunt-Smith (Paul), Sedona, AZ; son Larry Hunt (Christine), Farmington; son in law Ed Porcaro, Farmington; grandson JB Hunt IV (Naomi), San Tan Valley, AZ; grandson Steven Hunt (Lynsi), Farmington; and, granddaughter Bianca Hunt, Farmington.
Micki had two families who loved him very much. He is survived by his wife Joyce, Kirtland, NM; daughter Rene’ Rodgers (Steve), Hesperus, CO; Candace Young (Bill), Farmington; grandson Curtis Young (Shawna), Farmington; grandson Aaron Kelly (Dannie), Flagstaff, AZ; grandson Josh Kelly, Minneapolis, MN; grandson Sam Rodgers (Becca), Parker, CO; granddaughter Lillian St. John (Steve), Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter Mari Rader (Zane), Jackson, MS; granddaughter Grace Rodgers, Nagoya, Japan; and, great granddaughter Abigail Young, Farmington.
Micki’s passion was painting, especially automobiles. And, he did a lot of them. He also enjoyed painting anything else indoors or outdoors. He was a big NASCAR fan and followed all the drivers and teams. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Farmington.
Micki’s quick wit and friendliness will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, at First Baptist Church, Farmington, led by Pastor Keith Berryman. Burial will take place at a later date.
