Jeff "Jibby" Mason

Jeff “Jibby” Mason, 56, of Upper Fruitland received his wings on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at SJRMC.

Jibby was born March 9, 1969, in Farmington, NM to Eva and James Mason. He was Hashtłʼishnii (Mud Clan) born for Áshįįhi (Salt clan). He grew up in Upper Fruitland, attended schools in Kirtland: from Ruth N. Bond to Kirtland Central High graduating in 1987. He lettered in track, basketball, wrestling, and football. He went on to pursue higher education at San Juan College and Arizona State University. He was a man of many hats: doing electric work, construction, supervisor, farmer, and was one awesome heavy equipment operator. Throughout his life he was employed by Diamond D, TRC & San Juan River-Dine Water Users. He was a humble and kindhearted guy, always something funny to say, and most of all he had a giving heart. Also, loved watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies!! Never missed a game. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren, always cruising with one - Daniel and being at “da farm” hanging out with his brothers. He surely will be missed by all those who loved him.

He is survived by his sisters: Vivian (Wilson) Yazzie, Karen (Nelvin) Garnanez, Valerie (Dan) Lewis, Toni Mason, and Colleen (Todd) Lujan; 5 nieces, 8 nephews, 16 grandchildren. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Predeceased by parents: James and Eva Mason; paternal grandparents: John and Daisy Mason; maternal grandparents: Charles and Rena Bekis; numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousins.

There will be a viewing on Friday, December 5 at Farmington Funeral Home from 2 PM to 4 PM.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20 with time and location to be determined. Reception following. All are welcome to attend.
