Jennana Elaine Bassett was born on March 14, 1962, at Farmington Hospital, surrounded by the love of her parents, John F. Rodgers and Mary Lou Rodgers, and her four older brothers. Alongside her twin brother, Jeff, she grew up in a lively household filled with spirit and competition.
The Rodgers family spent Jennana's early years in Farmington, New Mexico, before moving to Chama, where she began her education at Chama Elementary. After a brief return to Farmington and a year in Albuquerque, the family settled back in Farmington, where Jennana attended school from elementary through high school and formed friendships that would last a lifetime.
From a young age, Jennana was known for her vibrant spirit and competitive nature. Whether playing sports with her brothers or challenging them to be better, her determination shone brightly. She embraced life with enthusiasm, inspiring those around her with her passion and zest for living.
On April 11, 1986, Jennana married her true love, Jerrell Bassett, in a heartfelt ceremony at the Exciting Tabernacle Baptist Church in Farmington. Together, they created a warm home in Wild Horse Valley, where they raised their beloved son, Albert Daniel Bassett. Jennana's dedication to her family was unwavering, and her love for her son was evident in everything she did.
Jennana devoted 11 years of her life to serving the community at Daily Bread in Farmington from 1996 to 2007, where she made many cherished friends and touched countless lives through her kindness and generosity.
Jennana is preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Lou Rodgers (February 1977), and her father, John F. Rodgers (September 2007). She also joins her maternal grandparents, Jesse Francis Harrington of Matson, Mississippi, Eula May (Cook) Harrington Hudson, and her step-grandfather Delbert Hudson of Dewey, Oklahoma, as well as her paternal grandparents, Carl and Viola (Van Rhein) Rodgers of Rantoul, Kansas.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerrell Bassett; her son, Albert Daniel Bassett; and her cherished grandson, Jameson. Jennana is also survived by her brothers and their families: Jack (Lacy Mae and Travis), John (Robin, Sara Rodgers-Abalos [Justin], and Denver [Lauren]), Jerry (Rosie, David [Tiffany] Zapico, Leslie [Sam] Esparza, Hopi, and Lucy Zapico), and Jeff (Penny, Kenzie Mendoza [Eddie], Justin and Chad Lloyd).
Although the youngest in the family, Jennana's spirited personality meant she truly ruled the roost. Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In true Jennana fashion she has made her requests for this time prior to its existence, with that please help us by honoring her and her family by understanding that there will not be a public service and by not sending flowers or other condolences. Cremation is being completed by the Farmington Funeral Home on Apache.
