Jerry Harpole

April 20, 1943 — August 2, 2025

Jerry Harpole Sr., known by many as Boss Hogg, Frenchie, Dad or Grandpa, passed away on August 2, 2025, in Farmington, New Mexico. Born April 20, 1943, to John Esco and Edith Pearl Harpole, Jerry's early life began in Mississippi but the pipeline took him all over western and central United States then eventually to Farmington New Mexico - along with his entire family, where he would build a life rooted in hard work, grit, and love.

From a cotton farmer in Mississippi to one of the best spread bosses there ever was or will be, Jerry's story is one of determination and heart. If you knew him, you've likely seen that devilish grin - whether it was on the job at a tie-in, hanging out in the juke joint, or during a good-natured (and possibly mischievous) game of canasta. He loved pipelining, casinos, cigars and above all, his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Jerry Jr. "JJ" (Jennifer), Terry, and John Esco "Jake" (Ashly); grandchildren, Tisa (Kirby), Amanda, Trey (Shawn), Heather, Courtney, Dylan, Sarah, Jackson, Abigail, Sierra and many great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Esco and Edith Pearl; his siblings, Norman Sr., Dorthy, Lanelle, and Jefferson; his daughter, Crystal; and his grandson Parker.

Jerry's life was one big, bold adventure - from leading crews with unmatched skill to outsmarting friends in a card game. His stories, his laughter, and his larger-than-life presence will forever be a part of the lives he touched.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry's life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Farmington, NM. Potluck reception will follow the service.
