Joseph Henry Ashley Jr., 90, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on April 12, 2026, in Farmington.
Joseph was born on April 1, 1936, in Ogdensburg, New York, to Joseph Henry Ashley Sr. and Violet Pearl (Low) Ashley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957.
On May 14, 1959, he married the love of his life, Madonna Irene Nugent. Their marriage was a lasting and devoted partnership that continued until her passing in July 2021.
Joseph worked for Syracuse Bearing until August 1981, when he transferred and moved his family to Farmington, New Mexico. There, he continued his career with Kaman Bearing until his retirement in 2003. In 2004, he and his wife Donna relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he lived until 2024 before returning to Farmington.
He was an active member of the Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s Church in Farmington and Holy Cross Church in Las Cruces.
Joseph enjoyed a simple and fulfilling life. In his free time, he loved reading, doing puzzles, fishing, bowling, and playing horseshoes. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his quiet, steady presence in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Joseph preceded in death by his wife Donna of 62 years. His parents, Joseph, Henry, Ashley Sr. and Violet Pearl (Law) Ashley, his brother‘s Lincoln, Ashley, Wayne, Ashley, Neil, Ashley, Bonnie Ashley, Roger Ashley and his sister Violet Ashley
Joseph is survived by his son Michael Ashlee, his daughters Michelle Ward and Melanie Ashlee, Harold(Linda) Ashley, Kevin (Ginger) Ashley, Valerie (Ted) Como, his grandchildren, Derin, Ethan, Aaron, Jessica Jordan, Allie, Noah Ashley, Andrew and Hayden Ward and Matthew Gonzalez Jr
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8 starting at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by Father Tim Farrell.
