Joyce Marie Hutchins

Joyce Marie Hutchins, 90, of Farmington, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on May 1, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born on October 12, 1935, in Raton, New Mexico to Lino and Virginia Quartieri. She graduated from Maxwell High School in Maxwell, New Mexico.

Joyce, whose loving heart touched everyone who knew her, was a devoted mother to her four children, a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren and a great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren. She was born a coal miner’s daughter and proudly embraced her Italian heritage throughout her life, especially through her love of cooking and gathering her family around the table. Alongside her husband, Howard, they owned and operated Howard’s Cleaners in Farmington where they built both a successful business and lasting friendships in the community. Joyce loved attending Connie Mack games with Howard, cheering on the Raiders, singing, dancing and was always the life of the party. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Lino and Virginia Quartieri, her husband; Howard Hutchins, stepsons; David and Tommy Hutchins, daughter-in-law; Wendy Mickel, and her sister-in-law; Dorothy Quartieri. She is survived by her sons; John Mickel and Jeff Mickel (Jean Tangeman), daughters; Val Mickel and Vicki Snyder (Randy), brothers; Ronald Quartieri and David Quartieri (Peggy), grandchildren; Melissa Findlay (Justin), Mat Mickel (Saga), Tyson Snyder (Kacy), Lexie Lucero (Garrett), and Anthony Griego, great-grandchildren; Jaxson, Maddox, Drake, Cy, Tess, Van, Jillian, Shiloh and Miles.

A service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday; June 15, 2026, at Farmington Funeral Home 2111 W. Apache St., Farmington, New Mexico 87401.
