Starts at 11:00 am (Mountain time)
Kathleen Lou Moore, 64, of Farmington, New Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2026, after a battle with cancer. She was born February 22, 1962, in Fort Defiance, Arizona, to Jimmie Moore and Irene Dahozy.
Kathleen was Áshįįhí (Salt People clan), born for Naakaii Dinéʼé (Mexican People clan). Her maternal grandfather's clan was Tódích'íi'nii (Bitter Water clan), and her paternal grandfather's clan was Kinłichííʼnii (Red House clan).
Kathleen attended Window Rock High School, where she was an all-around athlete in volleyball and softball and was crowned homecoming queen. She went on to attend Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.
Kathleen worked as a Navajo bilingual teacher and later as a sales representative for department stores and businesses including KTNN, The Daily Times, the Navajo Times, and Navajo Arts and Crafts. She lovingly cared for her father, Jimmie, until the Lord called him home. But the work that fulfilled her most was being a grandmother.
Crafting was Kathleen's passion. Through her business, Kat's Curations, she created seasonal craft projects, and everything she made was made with love. She was best known for her grand parties, which were ahead of their time and the highlight of everyone's year. Kathleen always said, "God is good," and she took every opportunity to celebrate life.
Faithful to the Lord from a young age, Kathleen also honored her Native American roots throughout her life. In recent years she found a church family at La Plata Valley Baptist Church. She was a joy to be around, and her unforgettable laugh, creativity, and charm will be deeply missed.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Natalie Mike and Samantha Mesa; her son, Robert Mesa; her sisters, Sandra Moore and Vivian Moore; her brother, James Moore; her grandchildren, Patrick Darrell Mesa Jr. and Margaret Mignola Mesa; and her grand-pups, Zim, Sweetie, Sage, and Blaze.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Moore and Irene Dahozy; her brother, Harley Moore; and her grandparents, Rose and William Dahozy and Jessie and Frank Moore.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at La Plata Valley Baptist Church, with a reception immediately following at the church.
The family is grateful for any support. Donations may be made through the family's GoFundMe page at gofund.me/143a47e8f , or by Zelle to Samantha/Patrick Mesa at 505-360-9235 or Natalie/Heather Mike at 720-266-8981, or by Venmo to Samantha Mesa (@smesa) or Heather Mike (@anna-mike).
