Kerri Schumacher

Someone said once that you cannot know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. We are clinging to each one we shared with tight fists as we remember Kerri Schumacher.

She was born Kerri Rena (pronounced just like Renee, but a beloved inside joke when it was mistaken for "reenuh") to Elton and Joyce Poor on July 2nd, 1962 in Farmington, New Mexico. From the beginning, she walked to the beat of her own drum, usually accentuating each step with laughter or a one-liner that made it hard to keep a straight face. She attended Farmington High School and went on to become a licensed cosmetologist through Mr. John's Beauty School, laying the foundation for a future in her very own salon: Mystère Exclusive Designs. Kerri was fondest of two things in her life: her people and her animals. She married her husband, Mark Schumacher on May 1st, 1991, and took the greatest pride in her two boys, Brandon and Cameron. When she wasn't affectionately boasting about her sons, she was sharing pictures of her pups, Titan, Diesel, and Sasha (or smuggling treats to any dog she came across). Kerri closed her eyes on Monday, June 23rd, and awoke in the presence of Jesus, her beloved sister, Darlene, dear brother-in-law, Tony, and her precious father, Elton.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; her sons, Brandon, Cameron, and Luke; her grandchildren, Rylie and Reese Poor, and Jayden, Kinsley, and Carson Schumacher; her mother, Joyce Poor; her sisters, Diane Harrison and Kim Dinallo; brother-in-law, Troy Harrison; nephews Trevor, Jerrod, Adam, and Justin, and niece Dominique; and numerous friends, extended family members, and two sweet fur babies.

Services are planned for 11am on Friday, June 27th, at Farmington Funeral Home at 2111 West Apache Street in Farmington, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations made in her name to the San Juan Animal League.
