Larry Saiz

Our beloved father, Larry passed away on October 17th, 2021 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones he held dear to his heart.

Dad was born on a Thursday, August 7th, 1941 in Bloomfield, NM on Saiz Lane to William Saiz & Florence Nickerson.

Dad got his first job at Sears after school when he was 12 or 13 years old. It was then located where K.B. Dillons is now. He moved merchandise around and made displays. When dad was 15 years old Leon's Wonder Market, (owned by Leon & Liz Roach) opened near his childhood home and he started his 18 year career there stocking groceries, cutting meat & he worked his way up to managing the store. He was held in high regard by their family. Dad then worked cutting meat at Safeway & Big Bear Market. He later started a property management career that spanned many decades.

Along the way dad met many friends who treasured his friendship. Dads longest childhood friend was Lowell Thompson & they visited right up until shortly before dad passed.

Dad met his soon to be bride, Nora Gower in 1959 & their first date was to a drive-in movie. They were married January 22, 1960 & their first daughter Laura (Shorts) was born in December 1960. Two more daughters, Robin Shawn (Michael Archuleta), Elizabeth Ann (Jeffrey McCoy) were born of their union completing his family. He is also survived by his cherished grandkids, Paul (Carissa) Kelloff, Chloe (Ryan Newton) Shorts, Jeffrey (Jessica) Archuleta, Amber Archuleta, Chandlar Bibo, Matt (Brandi) Archuleta & Jordan Archuleta. Also beloved Great-grandkids Keegan & Kendall Kelloff, Jayde & Connor Newton, Rylie & Hannah Archuleta, Noah, Seth & Luke Archuleta-Gardner, and Emmy Archuleta. Larry is survived by siblings Lou Smith, Priscilla Mace & Michael Garcia. Brother-in-law Elzy Gower & sister in-law Ruth Rebstock. And numerous other family & friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Elizabeth, in March of 1991; along with his father William Saiz, mother Florence Garcia, Step-father Mike Garcia, brothers, Donald, Ray & Steve Saiz. Also preceded by extended family including Lucille Cearley, Richard & Elvis Goodman, Thomas & Susan Ashley and Lonnie Gower.

Larry met his life partner, Joyce Karst in November 1992. Larry is survived by Joyce's kids who he raised: David (Heidi) Karst, Tracy (Steven) Culler and gained Kelly (Michelle) Brown, Shelly (Jim) Blevins, Conn Wethington, Shawna (Brad) Calvert, 14 grandkids and 16 great grandkids.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 @ Farmington Funeral Home @ 1:00 pm with burial service following at Greenlawn Cemetery. Cards & condolences may be sent to 661 Cerrillos Drive, Farmington, NM 87401.
